DETOUR & NEW PARKING:
The Maine Department of Transportation is starting a major replacement project for the Dover Bridge (Essex Street Bridge) over the Piscataquis River in Dover-Foxcroft, with work commencing on February 18, 2026. The project involves replacing the 1930s structure and 120 feet of approach work, resulting in a temporary full bridge closure to traffic and pedestrians.
PLEASE PARK IN THE PARKING LOT ON ESSEX STREET.
The bridge over Essex Street will be closed to through traffic from February 18, 2026, to December 2027. Drivers and pedestrians should follow the detour map and detour signs while on site. Motorists should expect delays and use caution when traveling through the detour zone. Essex Streer Family Dental & MaineDOT appreciates the public’s patience with this project. This project is expected to be completed by November 2028.
